Do you love to eat or serve rice but hate cooking it? A rice cooker may be the answer to your problem! A rice cooker is a kitchen appliance that was designed to steam or boil different types of rice with little to no work from you needed. There are different size rice cookers, ranging from 1 cup all the way up to 10 cups or more. Many electric rice cookers come with a keep-warm feature that will keep the cooked rice warm for a period of time after cooking, perfect for busy days and schedules that sometimes aren’t what they were planned to be.
When you choose an electric rice cooker be sure to note if it’s measurements are for cooked or uncooked rice. A good thing to remember is that rice basically doubles in size, so if you put 6 cups of uncooked rice into a rice cooker you’ll end up with 12 cups of cooked rice.
There are basic rice cookers that just cook the rice. There are also more elaborate rice cookers tht use “fuzzy” logic, these rice cookers are more expensive but tend to have a variety of settings for making different types of rice, making them a bit more versatile.
An electric pressure cooker, such as the Instant Pot, also does a masterful job of cooking rice.
Obviously a rice cooker can cook rice. A rice cooker can also cook other foods.
