According to the National Peanut Board website, approximately 94 percent of American homes have at least one jar of peanut butter in their pantry. That’s a lot of peanut butter loving people! Peanut butter is a paste or spread made from dry roasted peanuts and a few other ingredients that help provide flavor or texture. The two main types of peanut butter are smooth and chunky (sometimes called crunchy). In most instances, differences among peanut butters are more about what ingredients were used to make it, as opposed to what texture it has. Two of the best things about peanut butter is that it’s relatively inexpensive and really versatile. Plus, it’s a good source of protein! National Peanut Butter Day is on March 1, which is tomorrow.
