One of the cocktails I enjoy is the margarita. A classic margarita is made with tequila, triple sec, and lime juice, and is often served with salt on the rim of the glass. The drink is served on the rocks (shaken with ice), frozen (blended with ice), or straight up (no ice). Many folks tend to think of the margarita as a warm weather drink. In actuality, the popular cocktail is suitable for serving at any time of the year. Generally I prefer fruited variations, with strawberry being my favorite. Want to add some pizzazz to your holiday party? Try serving cranberry margaitas. A cranberry margarita is a tasty and colorful variation of the cocktail that’s perfect for the winter holiday or any other time of the year. Add some cranberry juice to a traditional margarita and garnish with some seasonal fresh cranberries and you have a festive cranberry margarita perfect for holiday entertaining. Here’s instructions on how to make it.

- cocktail shaker
- cocktail strainer
- 3 oz tequila
- 2 oz Cointreau triple sec
- 3 tbsp fresh lime juice
- 2 oz cranberry juice
- fresh rosemary sprigs, bottom leaves removed, approximately 2-3” long
- fresh cranberries
- fresh lime wedges
To make the cranberry sprig garnish, carefully thread 3 fresh cranberries onto tough rosemary stems. Set aside.
Fill the cocktail shaker with ice, then add tequila, Cointreau, and both of the juices.
Shake well and strain into ice-filled glasses.
Garnish with rosemary sprigs and lime wedges, if desired.
