My youngest loves pizza, like so many other kids. But, since he has Celiac disease, he isn’t supposed to have the traditional pizza you generally find in a pizza place or restaurant. Two Saturdays ago after bowling I thought it would be nice if he and I had a little alone time and grab a bite. I looked through the Restaurant.com app and found a few local restaurants I hadn’t been to. One was a pizza place named Via Roma III Pizza & Trattatoria. I almost passed it up, until I noticed on their menu that gluten-free pizza was listed. Count us in!
We entered Via Roma III in the early afternoon. Fortunately, it was still early enough in the day to be lunchtime but late enough that there was no big lunch crowd. We quickly and easily found a seat near the window.
I love soup, so I decided to start with the tortellini soup. The tortellini was just right for me, the perfect amount of tender and not chewy. It was in a mild broth with a generous amount of spinach.
I chose the gluten-free pizza for my son. He received a whole small pie, and boy did he smile when he saw what his meal was. He ate just over half of the pie right then, only stopping to tell me how good it was.
I had decided to get the gnocchi with chicken. The gnocchi was perfect, filled with potato and smothered with a tasty pink sauce with large chunks of chicken. The dish tasted great and needed nothing. I ate some and still had a large portion to bring home to pick on through the weekend.
Towards the end of our meal the owner stopped by the table. He wanted me to try a slice of their popular “Grandma Pie”, on the house. This pizza was really tasty. It had a super thin crust, lots of cheese and some pesto. I had never had anything quite like it but understood why it was so popular. As I waited at the counter before leaving, I admired the variety of different pizzas they had. I was given yet another slice to sample, which was as delicious as the foods I’d already had.
I was very pleased with the food at Via Roma III, and the service. The food was tasty and the portions generous. The staff to be super friendly and accommodating. I will gladly return to Via Roma III in the future.
