I love large pans and skillets. I guess that’s partially because I love to make one-pot meals. They seem to taste better. And of course, having less pans to clean is always a good thing too. I’ve been working on my holiday gift guide on my other blog, Mom Knows It All, and recently received a Copper Chef Pan for consideration. I decided that the first dish I should try making in it was a one-pot dish on the stovetop. We always enjoy ham and cheese hash browns. I make them to be gluten-free, and they’re a tasty but simple comfort food suitable for any time of the day. Here’s how I make them.
One-Pot Gluten-free Ham and Cheese Hash Browns
Equipment
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/2 lb cooked deli ham, sliced into strips approximately the same length as the hash browns
- 1 cup milk
- 8 oz Velveeta
- 20 oz bag hash browns (refrigerated)
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Heat the butter in skillet. Add the ham and cook for about 3 minutes, just long enough to heat the ham up.
Add the hash browns, milk and Velveeta to the pan and stir well.
Bring to a boil then cover and let cook for about 10 minutes.
Serve immediately with salt and pepper to taste.

Casseroles are convenient for the on-the-go working woman because she is busy 24/7. Still I prefer my portions separate not “belgian” style.
