Biscuits are a funny thing in my house. Standing alone by themselves they are tolerated. A plain biscuit is just not our preferred taste or texture when it comes to breads and carbs. But, combine the biscuits with other things and they are quite a bit more popular. When i made this dish I wanted something that was super easy to make, tasty, and warming like a comfort food. I had a tin of premade biscuits in the fridge that I needed to use so I went with them instead of another type of starch for the “base”. It does not photograph well, as you probably see. But, it is tasty, warming and filling. Here’s how I made it.
Beef And Biscuit Bake
Ingredients
- 1 tin refrigerated biscuits (I used Pillsbury Grands Butter Tastin)
- 2 tbsp garlic and herb butter (if you don’t have this use 2 tbsp butter with 1 tsp Italian herbs and 2 tsp garlic powder)
- 1.5 lbs ground beef
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 8 oz shredded mozzarella cheese
- 16 oz red sauce (I used Ragu Chunky Sauteed Onion & Garlic)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 f.
Cut biscuits into pieces. I sliced each one in half and then each half into quarters.
Melt the butter.
Place the biscuit pieces into a ziploc bag with the butter and gently “massage” to make sure the butter covers all pieces of biscuit.
Spray a baking pan with nonstick cooling spray.
Place the biscuit pieces into the bottom of the baking pan.
Bake for 12 minutes.
While the biscuits are baking, place the ground beef, onion powder and garlic powder into a pan and brown the beef.
As the beef is finishing, add the red sauce to the pan and stir well.
Pour the beef and sauce mixture over the biscuits.
Sprinkle the cheese across the top.
Bake for 25 minutes.
Serve immediately.

Biscuits– the thought makes me remember how much I yearn for a fresh old-fashioned popover.

This is a delicious and easy to make recipe! The preparation and cooking time would take probably an hour and that’s fine with me! This will be a family favorite soon.

Wow this looks really good! We don’t have refrigerated biscuits here in Norway so I would have to make my biscuits by hand. ;(
