Recently I was dipping some Oreo cookies in chocolate. My oldest was eating sugar wafer cookies. I thought it would be interesting to see what happened if I dipped a sugar wafer cookie into the chocolate. The resulting treat was similar to one of my favorite candy bars, the KitKat. It’s a little bit thicker and has slightly different layering on the inside but the combination of chocolate and crunch is there. My son actually thinks they taste better then KitKats. Here’s how I made them.
HOMEMADE KITKAT BARS
- 1x milk chocolate candy wafers (I used Make N Mold that I bought at AC Moore)
- 1x 9 oz package sugar wafer cookies (about 36 wafers)
- colored sprinkles (jimmies, nonpareils or whatever you call them) optional
Soften the candy wafers. I put them all in a large, wide bowl and microwave for 2 minutes, then stir.
Dip the wafer cookies into the chocolate. I use tongs, and let as much excess chocolate as possible drip off of the cookie back into the bowl.
If you are putting sprinkles on you need to sprinkle them on top now before the chocolate sets.
Refrigerate for 10 minutes to set before serving.
