The beginning of the book discusses what got the author interested in baking and the beach lifestyle. There is lots of helpful information on the equipment and tools needed, as well as commonly used ingredients. Then come the recipes.
Each chapter contains an index of the recipes within it, as well as a brief introduction to that type of recipe. The recipes are all easy to understand, and call for ingredients that you probably have in your kitchen or can pick up at your grocery store. The author has included a paragraph or so with each recipe containing some information on the dish, the area or the recipe itself, as well as some suggestions for prep and serving. Each and every recipe is accompanied by a gorgeous color photo. How I love food photos! Not just when browsing and reading, but especially in a cookbook since they are usually what garners my attention when I’m looking for a new recipe to try. The only exceptions I saw were the crusts, in which section there was an extensive step-by-step photo tutorial. The only suggestion I have for this cookbook to make it perfect is to add in prep and cooking time in a future edition, since that is what I primarily use to determine if I am going to make a new recipe or not.
There are lots of recipes in this cookbook that I’m looking forward to trying, such as Cranberry Oat Scones, Red Velvet Riviera cupcakes, Light as a Kite Lemon Meringue cupcakes, Pina Colada Highway cupcakes, Boardwalk Butter Cookies, Panko cookies, Gluten-free Chocolate Chip cookies, Madeleines, Waimea Bay ice cream sandwiches, Caramelized Banana Fudgsicle, Berry Burst Pie, Beach House Seashore Cobbler and Caramel Apple Skillet Cake.
This cookbook would be perfect for anyone that enjoys baking, as well as those that enjoy sweet treats. It would also be a great fit for people who enjoy anecdotes about food and locations around the world.
