I enjoy a glass of wine every now and again. I find myself trying different wines because I prefer a sweeter taste then most wines offer. When I was offered the opportunity to try Delicia Alcoholic Beverages I accepted because the flavors sounded very interesting. Strawberries & Cream, and Peaches & Cream. Those sound good to me, like dessert. I like dessert. My shipment of Delicia happened to come the day before a friend has girls movie night in, which is where we all go hang out and spend the evening in with some wine and snacks watching movies. Perfect timing!
Delicia is currently available in four flavors:
- Whipped – the smooth taste of whipped cream and a touch of rich, savory vanilla
- Strawberries & Cream – the taste of fresh strawberries followed by layers of rich cream
- Peaches & Cream – deliciously indulgent sensations of succulent peaches smothered in rich, whipped cream
- Red Velvet – Reminiscent of decadent velvet layer cake, the unique, luscious taste will delight all of your senses from the first sip
I received samples of the Strawberries & Cream and the Peaches & Cream. I don’t know why but when I first looked at the bottle I immediately thought wine, followed immediately by champagne. Delicia is actually neither, it’s a malted beverage with 5% alcohol. Some of you will think beer when I say malted beverage. I don’t really care for beer, and I can assure you this isn’t like any beer I’ve tasted. Had it been, I’d like beer. This was more along the lines of a fuller bodied wine cooler that’s slightly fizzy. I enjoyed both of the flavors quite a bit. Not only is the taste of strawberries and peaches noticeable, but you can smell them a little as well. I found that they taste best chilled, although they were almost as good over ice. These beverages were great by themselves, they’d also go nicely with pound cake I think. I appreciated the fact that the plastic cork went back into the bottle easily, so that what was left stayed fresh. Not that that took very long, I enjoyed the taste so much the bottle wasn’t in the fridge for very long. At about $6 per bottle this is a great inexpensive option for those that want an alcoholic beverage that’s on the sweet side. It’s definitely something I’d pick up at the store, not only for home but also for picnicing or to bring to a casual gathering like our girls movie night.
