Have you been making the same old boring lunches for your child to bring to school day after day after day? It’s only the beginning of November, but if you feel like you’ve been making the same old lunch for months, it’s time to do something about it. In all likelihood your child will thank you for it. I mean, if you’re bored making it, they might be bored eating it. So change things up a bit and give the lunch in the lunchbox a makeover.
Sandwiches in and of themselves are fine, but they can be boring. Cut them into a fun shape and your child will surely smile when he or she opens their lunchbox.
To make the owl you make your child’s a sandwich. Then, cut the sandwich at the corners to make one large triangle and two small ones. Finally, you add cucumber slices and raisins for eyes and triangle-shaped piece of cheese for the nose.
Not feeling the owl sandwich idea? Then try a pencil sandwich. No, not a sandwich made of pencils! I mean a sandwich that looks like a pencil.
To make a pencil sandwich, make your child’s sandwich. Then cut the corners of the bread, making a tip at the top of the sandwich. Then, place a piece of cheese cut out like a sharpened pencil, a thin slice of a piece of white cheese and meat for the eraser.
Ok. Now that you’ve done a sandwich makeover, it’s time for a snack makeover. Healthy snacks are definitely the way to go. But, some healthy snacks are sweet instead of crunchy. Wondering what snack I’m referring to? Yogurt. That’s right. Yogurt is sweet, and much better for you then junk food. But how to make it portable and fun for use in a lunchbox, that’s the question. The answer? Yoplait Go-Gurt.
Yoplait Go-Gurt is yogurt in a tube. Go-Gurt itself has been around for a while, but it’s been recently reformulated. Yoplait Go-Gurt has natural flavor and color. It’s a good source of calcium and contains at least 10 percent of the daily value of Vitamins A and D. Plus, it contains no high-fructose corn syrup! It’s easy to pack, and easy to eat. You take a Go-Gurt out of the freezer in the morning and put it in the lunchbox, attached to a cold bottle of water or juice with an elastic or ribbon. The two will keep each other cool. By lunchtime the tube has thawed so that it’s the perfect temperature for eating.
Yoplait Go-Gurt is available nationally in the refrigerated aisle. It comes in 8 and 16-count package varieties, with a suggested retail price of $2.89 per 8-pack and $4.99 per 16-pack.
