Pies can be really yummy, both dessert pies and dinner pies. I accepted the offer to check out the new cookbook Mini Pies because I like the idea of small pies, because that way they’d be easier to serve when entertaining and easier to get into everyone’s hands that wants some.

ABOUT MINI PIES
What’s more delightful than the smell of a homemade pie baking in the oven? How about a dozen mini pies?
That’s right, your favorite homemade desserts are now bite-size and fit perfectly in the palms of your party guests’ hands. Mini Pies serves up your favorite classics and also features a handful of new mouthwatering creations:
- Apple Chai
- Very Berry
- Ginger Peach
- Cranberry Almond Pistachio
… and more!
However, this is not just a book for dessert fanatics; Mini Pies serves up savory recipes, too: Sweet Potato, Apple Chile, and Caramelized Onion Tart… you’ll want to try them all.
Authors Morgan Greenseth and Christy beaver guide you step-by-step through the process of making the perfect traditional crust, as well as graham cracker, vegan, shortbread, and gluten-free variations – and it’s much easier than you think. “Pies can be intimidating… something Grandma makes with an ancient recipe and years of trial and error, ” Greenseth says. “Christy and I wanted to remove that stigma and make pie accessible for bakers at every level.”
So whether you’re baking a batch of mini pies for your family or for peckish party guests, these are yummy treats everyone will want in their face!
MY THOUGHTS
I received a copy of Mini Pies. Chapters include Pie Crusts, Fruit Pies, Creamy Custard Pies, Nut & Savory Pies, and Toppings. The cookbook starts by showing you different types of pie crusts and how to make them. Then come recipes for different types of pies. Each recipe includes a list of ingredients, as well as which pie crust to use from the beginning of the book. Recipes are all easy to follow, and from what I saw use ordinary ingredients. Many, but not all, recipes include a pretty color photo. I do wish each recipe had a picture as I find pictures really helpful, both in helping me decide what to make and in helping me know what something is supposed to look like. Recipes that I’d like to try include Sweetheart Cherry, Sweet Strawberry, Sue’s Pink Lemonade, and Aunt Jimma’s Chocolate Cream. This cookbook would be a great stocking stuffer for anyone that likes to bake or entertain.

Sering would be easier. Add in the variety option. But it seems they have more crust. Ideally my pies would be all filling but then they wouldn’t be a pastry.
