RB and I really don’t get to spend that much time alone together. With that in mind I reinstituted Friday Date Night a couple of months ago. On most Fridays we have a sitter for CJ now. Once he’s there then we go out and do something. Sometimes that something is nothing, sometimes it’s a movie, sometimes it’s grocery shopping and sometimes it’s going out to eat. Recently we went out to eat at a place that we’d both heard a lot about but had never been to before – Chili’s Restaurant.
We arrived at Chili’s at about 6:45 and were seated almost immediately. I liked the atmosphere, fun and casual. It took us a little while to look at the menus and decide what we wanted because there were so many delicious sounding things on it.
RB decided he was going to start with a bowl of Terlingua chili.
I knew it would ruin my appetite but I really wanted to try their broccoli and cheese soup.
RB really liked the chili and I thought that the soup were delicious. My soup was among the best I have ever had. I only ate a third of my soup and as expected, I was almost full already. The waitress graciously brought me a container to bring my soup home in.
In a rare moment, RB and I had ordered the same dinner – Country Fried Steak.
When it was served my mouth watered. It looked so good, I only hoped it tasted as good as it looked. I was not disappointed. The Chili’s Country Fried Steak is absolutely delicious! The meat is breaded and spiced just right and their gravy is fantastic. The meal came with corn on the cob and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were very flavorful and the corn on the cob hot and crisp. I couldn’t recommend this meal more highly. The meal was $11.99 and the portions we received were more than reasonable. I had leftovers which were placed into a container. The waitress asked if we wanted dessert.
RB and I both wanted coffee and I wanted a little dessert. There was a BIG problem with dessert – there were two desserts that I really wanted, molten chocolate cake and cheesecake. I had to order both, because I LOVE cheesecake and the molten chocolate cake sounded and looked so good. RB and I shared the molten chocolate cake. It was rich and delicious and we couldn’t finish it. Being so stuffed, I had the cheesecake boxed to bring home.
We were very pleased with our dinner at Chili’s and will definitely be going back. I was pleased to find that Chili’s offers a gluten-free menu that is updated monthly, which means we can bring the kids if we want.
