ABOUT TYRRELLS

Tyrrells is an English chips company that prides itself on high quality chips made in small hand cooked batches. The company’s farm, in the West of England, only uses local potatoes – Lady Claire and Lady Rosetta varieties, known for their flavor and color -  from 10 local family-farmers, so that quality is always maintained, right through the year. Tyrrells believes in uncompromised quality and the seasonings are prepared with only natural local home grown ingredients. The result is great tasting whimsical flavors with no MSG, and completely gluten-free recipes. Tyrrells well-kept-secret-recipes are all part of creating a range of truly top-notch English chips.

MY THOUGHTS

I received samples of Tyrrells Chips in a variety of flavors including:

  • Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper
  • Worcestershire Sauce & Sundried Tomato
  • Lightly Sea Salted
  • Sea Salt & Cider Vinegar
  • Sweet Chili & Red Pepper
  • Beetroot, Parsnip & Carrot Crisps with Sea Salt

Tyrrells Cips come in 5.3 oz bags. The bags are super colorful, definitely not ordinary. My favorite was the Lightly Sea Salted, followed closely by the Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper. I didn’t care for the Worcestershire Sauce & Sundried Tomato, that’s no fault of the chips, I just don’t like Worcestershire Sauce. I didn’t care for the Beetroot, Parsnip & Carrot Crisps with Sea Salt either, it had way to much of a root veggie sort of flavor going on for me. I really want to try their other flavor, Mature Cheddar & Chives. I can say that I was very impressed with the crunchiness that Tyrrells Chips have, they even held up to dipping without breaking.

Tyrrells current distribution includes Whole Foods (mid-Atlantic region and Rocky Mountain Region), Wegmans, HEB, Shaws, Fresh Market, and Meijer as well as at Fairway markets and Duane Reade throughout the New York area. Chips are also available for purchase online, with 2-packs are priced at $8.78.

OMG, I had these for the first time a week ago, the Sweet Chili and Red Pepper, and my son and I ate the entire bag in one sitting. THEN….last Friday I opened a bag of “Sea Salt and Vinegar” and proceeded to eat 95% of that bag (I had to give SOME to my husband). These are THEE best chips (crisps) I’ve ever had! Leave it to the Brits! They know chips or crisps as they call them!

yummy! cheddar and chives sounds really interesting – nice twist on the typical sour cream and onion chip we usually eat.
