REVIEW – Blue Ox Jerky

We love jerky. It’s a great snack. Recently I was introduced to Blue Ox Jerky, and offered the opportunity to try some of their different products.

ABOUT BLUE OX JERKY

We are a Michigan-based jerky company established out of frustration of the bland, stamped, blah tasting beef jerky we encountered every day at local stores and gas stations. We wanted meat with substance, with attitude and a sense of the ridiculousness, just like us. And we wanted it to be available for all, thus BlueOxJerky.com was born!

MY THOUGHTS

I received several different types of Blue Ox Jerky including Cherry Maple Smoked Beef Jerky, Original Recipe Smoked Beef Jerky and Blazin’ Hot Smoked Beef Jerky. Both the Cherry Maple and the Original Recipe are gluten-free, and are among a number of gluten-free products that Blue Ox offers. I like knowing that they’re clear about what products are and are not gluten-free, sometimes it can be hard to tell when you’re dealing with flavors and spices. I got the Blazin Hot Jerky with my other son in mind, the one that loves hot and spicy things. The flavor of all three varieties was outstanding. The Blazin Hot was too hot for me, but my son loved it. The Original Recipe was great, it had great taste and a little zing without being over the top. I found the Cherry Maple to be sweet, and the mildest of the three. I like that every product on the Blue Ox website is rated from 1-5 according to how spicy, sweet, smoky and bold they are. We all really enjoyed this jerky and I can definitely recommend it.
