How To Load A Dishwasher

I generally load and unload the dishwasher in my house. Once in a while if I’m not home and there’s dishes hubby tries to be helpful and loads the dishes into the dishwasher. But, he loads it completely the opposite of the way I load it. I load small items, cups and ice cream bowls on the top rack. I load large glasses and plates on the bottom rack. Our silverware holder has eight spots. I start by putting two spoons into each of four of the spots. I load two forks, tines up, into two more of the spots. I load two knives at a time into the last two spots. Then I start adding one piece of silverware at a time into one slot at a time, so that the silverware is dispersed evenly. Forks always go in tines up. Hubby loads silverware anywhere, and puts all of the large ends down into the space. I always think that this makes it harder to clean. He puts ice cream bowls on the bottom, but they’re sideways if they’re down there. I like to put them on top where they’re tilted about 3/4 of the way. We’ve had the same dishwasher for more than sixteen years. After all these years I’ve found that the way I load the dishes is the way they get the cleanest. I don’t want to tell hubby not to help, so instead I just rearrange them before I start the dishes. Do you load the dishwasher a certain way?

yes, but SHE always does it differently – (and wrong)
HAHA! Somehow I don’t picture either one of you doing it wrong.
My first job was a dishwasher in a hospital. I learned that you can’t put all the same silverware in the same hole in the basket. They will stack together and they just won’t get cleaned properly. Everything should go up, because all the food particles go down. Nothing, at that time, was more frustrating than to be told to re-wash them.
EXACTLY!!!
I am most casual–silverware does in any slot to be sorted after the wash. Big utensils go top trap left; plastic right; big dishes bottom back; huge pieces (covers, micro tray, cutting borar, etc, left); fill in as much as th load can take then wash.
