REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY – Johnsonville Sausage Burgers And The No Ordinary Burger Contest

Johnsonville makes excellent sausage. We’ve bought their sausage for years. I make one f my favorite soups with their Beddar Cheddar Sausage. When I was offered the opportunity to try their newest products – Mild Italian Sausage Burgers and Bratwurst Burgers – I gladly accepted. The new burgers were recently released and are the feature of the No Ordinary Burger Contest that is currently running.

ABOUT THE NO ORDINARY BURGER CONTEST

Thanks to the first-ever “No Ordinary Burger Recipe Contest,” sponsored by the National Pork Board and Johnsonville Sausage, backyard chefs can share their spin on the traditional burger using new Johnsonville Brat and Italian Sausage Patties – for a chance to win big!

Now through September 6, log on to www.johnsonville.com/burgercontest to submit your recipe and vote for your favorite pork burger. Two grand prize winners will be awarded a year’s worth of groceries from Walmart and have their recipes featured on Johnsonville Brat and Italian Sausage Patty boxes. MY THOUGHTS

I got a box of each of the new Johnsonville burgers – one Mild Italian Sausage and one Bratwurst. We invited my parents over and had a fun family dinner. Hubby grilled all of the burgers. The Bratwurst was well received but the Mild Italian Sausage was definitely the big hit. The Mild Italian Sausage Burgers tasted like the Italian Sausage that we buy in links but a tiny bit zippier. Delicious! The Bratwurst, hubby’s favorite, were very similar but actually tasted a little milder and less zippy. I had some different cheeses available to try and I served finger food appetizers on the side, some of which ended up on the burgers.

My recipe for the perfect sausage burger is pretty simple. Cook your burger. Right before you take it off of the grill melt a slice of Cheddarella (combination of cheddar and mozzarella cheese) on top. Throw on a couple of onion rings. Enjoy.
