Not only will you discover the best white and red wines under $20, but you’ll also find a color-coded index that provides tips on food pairings including beef, chicken, fish, pasta and salad; tips from experts; and even the perfect wineglasses to use for your Chardonnay, Riesling, Merlot, Shiraz, etc.

Whether you’re browsing your local wine shop or ordering online, Great Wines for $20 will be your handy, portable guide that offers simple directions for choosing the right wine for your palette, all while avoiding the arcane “wine-speak” that many may find intimidating.

Elyse Luray has been a featured auctioneer at “A Toast to Women in Wine,” a partnership with Wine Spectator magazine to host the nation’s premier celebration of female winemakers and fine cuisine. She can also be seen at the podium at Miami’s Food and Wine auction and the Chesapeake Bay Wine Classic Foundation. Elyse is an appraiser and historian in popular culture, formerly on the staff of Christie’s and was a regular on “Antiques Roadshow”. Currently she is one of five hosts on PBS’ History Detectives”. Elyse has also been the appraiser on the yearly HGTV special, “The Longest Yard Sale,” and for the popular HGTV show, “If Walls Could Talk” and is a contributor on the “Nate Berkus Show” as an appraiser.

I received a copy of Great Wines Under $20. There are too many chapters to list so I’ll say that the book is broken down into many specific and specialized categories covering everything from age (vintage), food pairings, glasses, wine temperature, wine regions, and much more. The book contains a lot of easy to understand information and yet isn’t so big that you couldn’t bring it along with you to the liquor store. There are more than 200 wines in the book. The wine pages contain the wine’s website and country of origin, large color photos of the labels, the author’s notes on that wine and the price they found it fot, as well as a color code letting you know what types of entrees it would pair well with. This book would make a nice gift for anyone including yourself.

ONE winner will receive a copy of Great Wines Under $20.

  1. I don’t have a favorite, the past few years I have been picking up a bottle of Trader Joe’s Sparkling White wine (champagne), under 5 bucks a bottle!. I have trouble choosing wines when I want to get fancy with the hubs for an anniversary or special occasion dinner.
