2010 HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE – Oneida Dinnerware
By valmg on Nov 24, 2010 with Comments 3

I knew Oneida made great flatware but until recently I didn’t even realize that they also offer dinnerware. The set of dishes we had had been a wedding gift, making them 25 years old. The set was missing a few pieces. It was worn and scratched, and a couple of pieces had small chips. When I started browsing online for new dishes, I wasn’t prepared to find such a wide variety and some pretty reasonable prices.
I selected the Oneida Basketweave 53 Piece Service For 8. I love the color and texture of this pattern. The Basketweave pattern (shown above) is a creamy off white and has a basket pattern around the edge. It’s simple and understated and would work well with just about any decor. This is a 53 piece set, a setting for eight – exactly what I needed to replace my old set.
The set includes:
- 8 Dinner Plates
- 8 Salad Plates
- 8 Soup Bowls
- 8 Cups
- 8 Saucers
- 8 Fruit Bowls
- 1 Vegetable Bowl
- 1 Platter
- 1 Sugar Bowl w/Lid
- 1 Creamer
The dishes are simple and pretty. They’re very sturdy, and are made of stoneware. I love that they are both dishwasher and microwave safe, two musts in our house. This set regularly sells for $129.99 but is currently on sale for an astounding $49.99! I found a lot of other great deals on the site as well. Browsing there was almost as dangerous for me as being locked into a cheesecake store! With the wide range of styles offered you’re sure to find something you like, as well as some great gift ideas.
