Sara Lee Deli Meats Review And Giveaway

sara lee fresh ideas logo

I’ve tried a lot of cold cuts over the years. I have packed lunch for RB for a good fifteen years or so, most of them sandwiches. We’ve had different companies and different flavors. Some stuff we hate, some we tolerate and some we really like. In order to be sure that I got quality meat sliced the way I want I started only buying cold cuts sliced fresh in front of me at the deli. That was no longer true as of a month ago, when I tried Sara Lee Fresh Ideas Deli Meats, a new deli meats product line. That’s the same time I also found my new favorite deli meat.

About Sara Lee Fresh Ideas Pre-Sliced Deli Meats

The Sara Lee Fresh Ideas pre-sliced deli meats are available in 14 varieties of turkey, ham, chicken and beef and combine deli-quality meats with a fresh approach to packaging. Found in the self-serve deli section of your local grocer next to gourmet cheeses, the Sara Lee Fresh Ideas pre-sliced deli meats deliver premium, thin-sliced meats, without having to wait in line at the deli counter. Made with no fillers and offering the prepackaged convenience consumers are looking for, this deli product delivers convenience and the resealability of tub packaging.

The Sara Lee Deli line of pre-sliced deli meats includes:

  • Cracked pepper turkey breast
  • Hardwood smoked turkey breast
  • Honey roasted turkey breast
  • Oven roasted turkey breast
  • Brown sugar ham
  • Cooked ham
  • Hickory smoked ham
  • Honey ham
  • Virginia brand baked ham
  • Garlic herb chicken breast
  • Oven roasted chicken breast
  • Corned beef
  • Beef pastrami
  • Roast beef

We’ve tried almost half of the line and have been pleased with each one. The meat is outstanding – it’s not fatty, chewy or tough. The meat is sealed in plastic inside  a resealable plastic container.

This is my new favorite deli meat.

The garlic herb chicken is my favorite. The chicken is tender and moist and the garlic herb flavor gives it a zesty little tinge of flavor.

I love the plastic container, because it’s better than the plastic deli bags that rip and don’t always shut. The single thing they could do to improve these meats is make them easier to separate into slices – I cannot get the slices off of the stack neatly. You can see how it’s rolled a little in the packaging, which is why I couldn’t get a whole slice off. Other than that the quality, texture and taste of the meat is just as good as anything I’ve bought from the deli counter.

Sara Lee Fresh Ideas Pre-Sliced Deli Meats can be found in the self service deli section of your grocery store. The line is available at many grocery stores across the nation. The suggested retail price ranges from $4.99-$5.99; depending on the region of the country the product is sold.

Earlier this month (November 3, 2009) Sara Lee Deli celebrated National Sandwich Day by holding a #24 Hour Deli Difference” campaign to contribute the equivalent of 16,500 sandwiches to Share Our Strength, the leading national organization working to make sure no child in America grows up hungry. As a part of this campaign Sara Lee Deli promised to contribute $1 for each follower of @SaraLeeDeli on Twitter, up to $25,000. The goal of Share Our Strength (Strength.org) is to end childhood hunger in America by the year 2015.

I am a fan of Sara Lee on Facebook and love the tip:
    No Soggy Sandwiches
Before we get started on our Art of Sandwich Making tips, let’s make sure we know the basic principles of sandwich creation to ensure we prevent the dreaded soggy sandwich.

When using a sandwich spread or dressing, layer the sandwich spread on the bottom and the dressing on the top part of the sandwich.

Don’t place tomatoes, lettuce or other veggies or fruits directly on the sandwich spread — the spread will cause those items to slide off the bread.

Never place the tomatoes directly on the cheese. Juice from the tomatoes will make the cheese soft and cause the bread to become soggy.
