CJ has Celiac Disease, which means he’s not supposed to have foods with gluten. This is a tough diet, and an expensive one. Forget about eating most of the foods the other kids eat, it’s not happening. One of the hardest things for me to pack for is a day trip or a school trip. Other kids have Lunchables. Mine can’t. I can make my own Lunchable type of meal but if it includes slices meats and cheeses it needs to be cold. It’s hard to keep a lunch cold when you’re riding on a school bus going on a field trip. So there’s the problem.

We received four of the GoPicnic Gluten-free meals to review – Explore Munch, Safari Munch, Sports Munch, Anywhere Break and GoTrek. The foods were all tasty and fresh. Each of the meals contained different items but I recognized most of the items as being well known brands, such as Jack Link’s jerky.

What I liked best about the meals (besides being gluten –free) is that each of the items in the meals are individually wrapped, which means if you don’t eat everything things will stay fresher. I really liked that they include a wet napkin for cleaning hands and faces. The one suggestion I have for improvement is inclusion of a drink. It would be a lot more convenient to have a drink included than to pack a separate one at home. I wouldn’t buy these meals for everyday use but they’d be perfect for when CJ goes on a class trip or any long car ride.
