What I learned from Four Foods on Friday #14
By valmg on Jan 25, 2008 with Comments 8
There was a good turnout this week, thanks to all! People that replied today received two deep links. (You guys kept me pretty busy! LOL.) Anyone else interested is still welcome to participate but will only receive one link.
If you would like to receive a weekly email reminding you to participate in the meme please fill out the form on the meme home page. Or, better yet, subscribe to the feed. That means you’ll get new recipes to try every day in your reader!
Here are this week’s four questions.
#1. Bacon. Chewy, crispy or burnt?
#2. Mayonnaise or miracle whip?
#3. What green vegetable is used in Italian Wedding soup?
#4. Share a recipe that you use Italian sausage in.
I like my bacon cooked in between chewy and crispy, definitely not burnt.
Mayo only for me and I like Hellmanns.
Some people use lettuce, some people use spinach. This was hubby’s question. I’m not sure that there is a right answer, although he says the answer is escarole.
Corn sausage chowder baby!
Here’s what I learned from this week’s Four Foods on Friday #14.
Kelly was running late but we’re glad she made it.She doesn’t use mayo or Miracle Whip. She’s shared a recipe for Sausage Soup that her family really went crazy for. I her blog she’s also got a set of detailed instructions on how to host a cookie party that’s good reading.
Lori likes her bacon the same way as I do from the sound of things, and has shared a recipe that sounds totally yummy but I don’t know what it’s called. Lori, what’s that dish called? Lori’s contest to win a stand mixer is almost over so if you haven’t entered yet high tail it over there now. You’ll get extra entries if you vote for her food blog. (While you’re on the Bloggers Choice Awards site feel free to vote for my two – I know EVERYTHING and Val’s Views. They could use a little push, they’re sitting on pages two and four respectively right now. That isn’t bad but I would love to see them on the front page honestly.)
Karen stopped by, and all I can think of is warm gooey brownies. Karen is another Miracle Whip user and has shared a recipe so savory that it comes with a disclaimer! Karen, this is your sixth time joining, let me know if you want a link in the sidebar. Another one of Karen’s blogs, The Pond, is where you will read why she made 500 brownies this week, as well as have the opportunity to click and help a really great cause.
Blueyes likes mayo and has never bought Italian sausage! Girl you don’t know what you’re missing. Blueyes, you’ve played at least six times, let me know if you want a link in the sidebar. If you watched the American Idol Charleston episode (I didn’t), then you may relate to her thoughts. Warning, her blog is really easy to wander around and lose track of time in because she’s implemented possibly related posts and the titles draw you in!
Lisa’s another vote for Miracle Whip and she’s shared a recipe for lasagne, a dish I have been thinking about making on Sunday all week. She makes hers a little different, she uses all sausage where I use ground beef and sausage. Lisa has shared what she’s got to say on the topic of mommy bloggers, and it is a recommended read.
Skeet is casting a vote for mayo! Yay! She didn’t have a sausage recipe handy when she posted but I know she’s got a recipe for something else in the pork family. Skeet, you’ve played more than six times, I’m putting your link up today. Thank you kindly, you’re about the best blogging neighbor someone could ask for. Check Skeet out on Tuesdays for her Tuesday Teaser contest, or look and see if she’s running Share Some Good Stuff on a Thursday. Also, if you like hidden object games you’ll appreciate her regular reviews, the most recent being of Polly Pride Pet Detective. If you haven’t ever played a hidden object game you can count on coming away with a new addictive spending habit better understanding of which ones are good and which aren’t worth the money.
Madelein likes mayo too! She’s also shared an email that may give you pause for thought.
Sandy’s vote is for mayo, and she’s shared a recipe for Blackeyed Peas with Sausage. I’ve never had that before, but it sure does sound interesting. Sandy was under the weather recently but that didn’t stop her from checking in on her blog visitors.
Ami-Chan is a new participant that found us after seeing us on Skeet’s blog. Welcome Ami-Chan, we’re glad to have you! Ami-Chan has cast a vote for Miracle Whip and offered a recipe for a calzone that made me so hungry. Well, at least I’m not thinking about the brownies anymore. LOL. She found something interesting on her driveway earlier this week, you simply must read it for yourself.
Lynne likes mayo and she knows she’s used sausage but can’t remember in what recipe. That’s ok, she was excited to be going to see the Mavericks-Lakers game so it’s understandable. Lynne’s got quite a tale on her blog right now, I had tears in my eyes by the time I was finished reading it. It’s a must read.
Corrin’s back and on two out of four questions she’s in the middle, drifting to either side depending on the occasion. Hmmm. I absolutely love her answer to the Italian Wedding Soup question! Corrin, I don’t like celery either. Corrin has really put it out there by sharing a little bit a lot of personal information with us, as well as a store I was unfamiliar with. You gotta love a girl who isn’t afraid to speak up!
Well, that’s it for now. A whole new set of questions goes up tomorrow. I appreciate everyone’s participation, and I love reading the answers, learning more about all of you and sometimes we get to check out a new recipe too. See you soon!
